When you banish, yr clearing out a workspace. If you were to bake bread on a table top, would you wipe off the chicken drippings before you set out the dough? I should hope so... Sometimes your work area may already be clear, in other words, the astral area around you is free from conflicting influences. On the other hand, it may not be. If that's the case, yr opening yourself up without establishing boundaries. That's what the big thingy on the floor with all the neat writing is you see in movies... just a boundary. (It doesn't matter what kind of boundary you use so long as it feels correct when you are working with your own servitors. If you wish to work with a spirit from a grimoire, it would be best to use the magickal circles indicated in the work.) By entering a protected circle, you can isolate a solitary thought form or energy manifestation without interference.
